Corey Vaillant – Executive Director

Corey first joined the DaySpring team in March of 2002.  At that time, she handled the resident medication.  Corey was promoted to Assistant Executive Director and functioned in that role for some time before leaving DaySpring in October of 2006.  Corey was excited to return to DaySpring in March 2011 in the role of Executive Director.

Corey earned a Master’s Degree in Applied Gerontology in 2003 from the University of North Texas.  She completed an internship and is now a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator. 

Corey has a 4-year old son and enjoys spending time with family, shopping, and visiting with friends.  Corey truly loves caring for the elderly and finds fulfillment in helping residents and family members get the help, support and the care they need.

Jenae Lipman – Business Office Manager

Jenae started with DaySpring in December of 2010.  She attended Indiana Wesleyan University where she earned a Bachelor of Science  in Elementary Education.  She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Business Administration through the University of Phoenix.

Jenae is married to her husband of four years, Aaron. She enjoys sports and playing games.

Jenae is originally from Jonesboro, Indiana.  She lived in Aurora, Colorado for four years before moving to McKinney, Texas in June of 2010.

 

Joyce McCann – Admissions Coordinator

Joyce started with DaySpring in of August of 2002.  She left DaySpring for a short time only to be led back again, but this time in the role of receptionist.  Joyce found she had a passion to work with our residents and family members, especially during the move-in and orientation process, and was promoted to Admissions Coordinator in 2009.

Joyce enjoys reading, cross stitching, watching movies and listening to jazz and classical music.  She also enjoys the company of her dog, Mollie Malone.

 

Gertrude Mauwa – Director of Resident Care

Gertrude has been employed with DaySpring for more than 10 years! Gertrude started as a caregiver and was promoted to the Director of Resident Care in October of 2006.

Gertrude has two daughters.  Gertrude likes to listen to Disco and Gospel music and enjoys cooking, cleaning and doing laundry.  She loves to laugh and have fun and enjoys the company of good friends and family.

 

Emma Wanjiru – Assistant Resident Care Director

Emma has been a part of the DaySpring family since October of 2001.  Emma has a kind and happy spirit and her passion for caring for our residents is evident.

Emma enjoys Soul and Gospel music and watching movies, especially comedies.  Her favorite color is red.  Emma is a happy person and loves to have fun!

  

Shane Wheeler – Plant Operations/Director of Dining Services

Shane has been part of the DaySpring family for more than 10 years as well!  He began started October 2001 as the Director of Dining Services.  He started with DaySpring after having spent the previous six years as a restaurant manager.  Shane was promoted and now handles not only Dining Services, but Plant Operations for DaySpring as well.

Shane is a die-hard fan of the Dallas Mavericks, the Stars, the Dallas Cowboys and the Boston Red Sox.  He enjoys Mexican food and assisting with coaching the sports activities of his four children.  Shane has been married to his wife, Shawna, for 16 years.

Alex Scott  – Activity Director

Alex joined the DaySpring team in July of 2009.  She keeps our residents busy by planning activities and programming to meet our resident’s interests.  Alex also coordinates our outstanding volunteer program.  Alex gets fulfillment through serving others.

Alex enjoys Christian and Alternative rock music and likes to sing and play the drums.  She also enjoys reading and spending time with her daughter.

 

Connor Scheller  -  Assistant Activity Director

Connor started working in the kitchen when first employed with DaySpring in August of 2007.  When an opportunity to help with resident programming and activity presented, Connor decided to give it a try.   Connor has been assisting with resident programming and activities since July of 2009 and he does an amazing job!  Our residents love Connor.  He brings energy and excitement in all he does and any resident who is talking or interacting with Connor is sure to be wearing a smile!

Connor enjoys playing the guitar and loves to spread the word of God through music.  He enjoys Christian Alternative music.

Connor has a dog, Frankie and two cats, Vader and Jessie.
